Touchdown Mode on Clash Royale

Before explaining the strategies to win at Touchdown, let us repeat again what this new challenge is.

In a nutshell you will be catapulted into a new arena where there will not be the usual crown towers, but you will find yourself in a field similar to those of American football’s. So, since there are no buildings to destroy, to get crowns and win you will have to surpass the bottom line of the enemy field by defeating the enemies that will try to kill you as you advance.

Also, remember that the deck does not decide for you, but you have to choose it using the “Strategic Challenge” system.

Touchdown Strategies

Clash Royale is a game that puts its foundations in strategy. Even this mode is no less, and it differs enough from everything we already know.

Let’s look at some key points to use a winning strategy for Touchdown on Clash Royale.

Start first or let the opponent start?

An elementary practice we know in the normal 1 vs 1 challenge is to leave the first move to the opponent in order to prepare a good defense to counterattack, creating an advantage. In Touchdown it isn’t so, and the one who starts first has more chances to win. If you wonder why the answer is easy:

By deploying the first card (preferably fast), the opposing team will immediately defend himself, omitting the attack, and wasting much elixir. By doing so, you and your partner can take measures against the enemy, and devastate it with your arsenal.

The partner: friend or unknown player?

Obviously choosing a friend or a clan mate with whom you have created a feeling is always the best choice, and except for exceptional cases, it’s better to avoid strangers. By doing this you will avoid being abandoned in the middle of the battle, or seeing you play absurdly by the one who in theory should be your team mate.

The most banal type of defeat

If you have already played with Touchdown, you will surely have had experience with stupid defeats when your opponent was not caught in your bottom line. So if you have already done so, always be on guard, avoid complicating your life and making “gifts” to the guest team.

Card choice

A very important question is what cards to choose to increase the chances of winning. So here are some tips to use:

  • Let your mate choose the deck first so that you can choose cards that are compatible with yours.
  • Mostly choose fast cards or targeting cards or possible buildings. By doing this you will have a great advantage.
  • Cards that at the time of death generate other units such as Golem or Lava Hound are precious. Do not leave them in hostile hands, or you will regret it.
  • Units creating other units are a real manna. If possible add them to the deck.
  • Possible combos already known in 1v1 are also useful here. Do not forget it.
  • The elixir charges very slowly. Do not use it improperly.

Stright attacks or lateral attacks?

Which direction is better to attack? Generally the bands, so you can take advantage of tighter spaces and then avoid the enemies changing direction by throwing themselves into our units. Vice versa, inserting a unit into the center of the map will attract hostile troops nearby. Sometimes, however, it can be a good strategy.

Are there more useful cards than others in Touchdown?

The answer is yes. Here’s a list of the best cards we used:

  1. Hog Rider;
  2. Lumberjack;
  3. Battle Ram;
  4. Lava Hound;
  5. Golem;
  6. Giant Skeleton;
  7. Goblin Hut;
  8. Giant;
  9. P.E.K.K.A;
  10. Fornace.
