Attack strategies for TH9, TH10, TH11: Balloons, Baby Dragons, Dragons, Lava Hound
Supercell has been trying for a while now to bring Air Units to the fore: after the introduction of the Air Sweepers in 2015, this category saw a slow and constant decline in terms of popularity and use. After adding new levels for these troops and the balancing made by the updade of December 2016, that showed an increase in speed for Dragons and Balloons, it is right to say: they are back from the dead! Here is a guide for attacks, tricks and advices to use to gain 3 stars or to farm lots of Dark Elixir (especially if you want to upgrade the new levels of the Heroes) and Pink Elixir!

Air attack strategies: Balloons, Baby Dragons, Dragons, Lava Hound
The balancing of December 2016 has brought a fresh air explosion for those ex-lovers of Lavaloonion, that almost nobody used anymore.
Finally, Air Units has been brought back to life and are now armies for dangerous attacks (maybe too much?) able to win 1 or 2 stars on every attack.
It isn’t useful just on a competitive level: farming is essential to grow and using these Troops will allow you to gain enormous quantity of Gold and Dark Elixir, which is rare.
The benefits of using Air Armies
If befor every army was made of 50% dark elixir units (Valkyries, Bowlers, Hog riders) with extreme exsanguination of Dark Elixir, now you will more need to invest Pink Elixir.
If you ami at winning easily because you might be farming, or you want to farm Dark Elixir because maybe you need to upgrade troops in the Laboraty or upgrade your Heroes, then using these Units is the best choice!
They have on their side the ability to elude Traps and some ground defences (like Mortar, Cannon, Bomb Tower), but compared to ground units they are more difficult to use as they are more delicate and sensible to damages from Air Defences or annoyed by the Air Sweeper.
However 1 star (especially if you are high in the legues and your bonus is high) it is almost always ensured when paired to Heroes.
Improvements with the Balancing
The new balancing allows to speed up the destruction of the enemy’s structures by Dragons and Balloons: a group of 2 or 3 Units of this kind, for example, can destroy almost always 2 close defences, even when hit by air defences.
If you feel like this is not enough, the Haste Spell has obtained an increment in its range of action, which accentuate the distructive side of these Troops.
How to use Air Armies for Farming and Climbing on Clash of Clans
Among all, the Town Hall that gained the most advantage is the TH9: without Inferno Towers and with the possibility to use the Freeze Spell, rarely it is hard to win 3 stars in war. Best Attack Techniques for Air Units
Usually the farming technique is always the same, but let’s not waste our time explaining too many techniques that we have often meticulously described in each and every aspect and that you can find below:
- Full Dragons attack, 2 Stars guaranteed: Useful for attacks in War or for Climbing, less for farming as you’ll need a lot of Elixir.
- Attack with Balloons + Baby Dragons + Minions: Useful for quick farming and big loot of Gold and Dark Elixir, but also for Climbing and War.
